There were many Native American tribes living in the Northwest but two popular tribes were the Nez Perce (Chief Joseph), and Chief Black Elk of the Oglala Lakota.
Many native American tribes were ousted from their homelands or persecuted to extinction or near-extinction by the colonists. Europeans also brought diseases that were formerly confined to the Old World. Native Americans had not developed the resistance to these diseases and many died.
Most were Navajo and Hopi, but some were of other Native American tribes. Many came from the reservations in Arizona and New Mexico.
Some problems related to this include: 1. The tribes "confederacy" was unified, but in a negative purpose 2. Caused hostility and suspicion within the tribes and other Native American allies

The tribes were conqered by the Spanish men and their family members were killed or sacrificed to the gods and other tribes hated them like the Tlaxcallans who helped cortes. Cortes abandoned them at last and conquered them as well.
There were 4 original Native American Tribe in the state of Wyoming, starting with; The Arapaho tribe, Cheyenne, Crow, and Shoshone. Today the only 2 federally recognized tribes in Wyoming are the Arapaho and Shoshone Tribes. They both share a single Indian Reservation, called Wind River Reservation.
