Do ticks still jump on dogs when they've already been treated?
A tick might jump on the dog, even though the dog has been treated with a monthly Flea & tick preventative, but it will not stay on there as it will die in a few hours or sooner. A tick has to bite/suck the blood out of the dog for at least 12 hours before it can pass on the diseases it carries so the Preventative takes care of that, it kills the tick before it can pass anything on and then the tick just drops off.

How do you remove a tick from a dog once the body had detached?

Your dog will generally be better off waiting for the head to fester out like a splinter. If you don't see improvement in a couple days you probably should take the dog to a vet to get it attention. To properly remove a tick, you want to avoid anything that will make it regurgitate back into the dog.
