When blue tack is placed in a fridge, it becomes colder and therefore more rigid. Blue tack is a type of adhesive that relies on its malleability to stick to surfaces, so when it becomes colder and harder in the fridge, it may lose some of its stickiness and become less effective for adhering to surfaces. However, once it returns to room temperature, it should regain its original properties.

To safely install carpet tack strips in a room, follow these best practices: Wear gloves and safety goggles to protect your hands and eyes. Measure and mark the perimeter of the room where the tack strips will be placed. Use a hammer and nails to secure the tack strips along the edges of the room, making sure they are facing towards the wall. Space the tack strips about 1/4 inch away from the wall to allow for proper carpet installation. Trim the tack strips to fit corners and doorways, ensuring they are securely fastened. If you roll up a ball of blue tack and rub it against the blue tack on the wall it comes off easily. Or, if like me you don't have any fresh blue tack available, I used blue painters tape. I got as much off the wall as I could by hand, and then placed the blue painters tape over the spots and pressed it into the orange-peel texture as much as possible, then peeled off the tape with the remaining blue-tack stuck to the tape. Do this a couple of times over each spot until clean.
When installing new carpet, it is important to follow these best practices for installing tack strips: Ensure the tack strips are placed around the perimeter of the room, leaving a small gap between the strip and the wall. Use a hammer to secure the tack strips to the floor, making sure they are straight and evenly spaced. Stretch the carpet tightly over the tack strips and use a knee kicker to secure it in place. Trim any excess carpet and tuck it under the baseboard for a clean finish.
