They Glitter!!! Their are varying degrees of reaction * Sunlight didn't bother Count Dracula all that much
* In twilight they merely glittered * In Vampire Chronicles they turned to ash * In Nosferatu he vapourized. ---- It has to do with ultraviolet rays and a vampire's melanocytes. UV rays are a form of ionizing radiation, which does heavy damage to the DNA structure of cells. Because ultra violet rays are at such a short wavelength (anywhere from 400 nanometres to 10 nanometres), they are especially dangerous for the cells that undergo melanogenesis. In a normal human, this damage causes your melanocytes to release more melanin and darken the pigment of the skin, ie. get a tan. In vampires, melanocytes are underfunctioning, and the photodamage to the melanocytes causes such a drastic shift in melanogenesis that cells' lysosomes actually initiate apoptosis. Dead cell matter at such a high concentration puts so much pressure on surrounding tissue that the blood vessels can become blocked, resulting in pressure buildup and the eventual failure of the cardiovascular system. Normally, the process takes somewhere from 10 to 15 minutes, and the vampire looks as though he or she died of heart failure. In extreme cases, the sudden blockage can result in internal bleeding and rhabdomyolysis from sudden internal shock on surrounding muscles. In this case, death can be instaneous of contact with sunlight.
---- Well, from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles (And many other vampire books) they burn in the sunlight. From Stephenie Meyers Twilight, the vampires glitter.
Vampires are make believe creatures. Part of the fantasy is that if a vampire is caught by sunlight it will burn up. That is why they are creatures of the night that must be back in their coffins by sunrise.
Well, in most of the stories it says they can't, but nobody knows if it is true because there is no true proof. It use to be that vampires were not much affected by sunlight at all. Count Dracula walked around in the sunlight quite freely. It wasn't until the movie Nosferatu came out in 1921 that sunlight became lethal to vampires. Only recently have vampires regain much of their resistance to sunlight.
They look the same that they do anywhere...
When exposed to sunlight, a vampire's skin begins to burn and blister. They experience extreme pain and their flesh can disintegrate or burst into flames. In some vampire lore, sunlight is lethal and can lead to their immediate destruction. Overall, sunlight is a known weakness for vampires.
Because if they are awake or in the sunlight during the day, they will burn to death.
vampires disintegrate when hit by sunlight
Technically, yes, but it would be VERY hard for them, as the slightest exposure to sunlight will cause their skin to burn horribly. no vampires burn in the sunlight how will a vampire survive in school?? that's impossible and vampires can NOT overcome sunlight yes they can ,becouse I am a vampire myself and I can survive sunlight only I get really weak if I stand it it. And I'm not the only 1. So they can stand it only they get weak or get a mark a butterlfy on there face/nose.

Vampires can melt or sparkle when exposed to sunlight.
Vampires Must Be aware of GARLIC, HUNTERS AND THEIR STAKES, AND SUNLIGHT.
According to common legend, it will turn to ashes and die. Different people have different ideas. For example, in Stephanie Meyer's books, The Twilight Series, vampires sparkle in sunlight.
