If you put water in your Power Steering reservoir you could damage the gears in your power steering gear box. Don't drive the vehicle until you drain the reservoir, pump and gear box of your power steering system and replace with the proper fluid. You will need to bleed the system as well. This is done by filling with fluid while a friend turns the steering wheel with the engine running 20 times all the way to the left and the right.
Yes. Oil and water do not mix.
It's possible but not likely. As far as you are sure that you have put the right kind of fluid, it's not the fluid's fault. It might be joints, power steering pump, pump steering rack, some air or water in the system.
Water in fluid as a result of leak or condensation. Time to flush and refill with new.
1. Your power steering won't work properly, because it requires hydraulic fluid. 2. You may cause corrosion in your power steering system.
There are no coolant lines to a power steering system so the only two ways I can imagine water could get into it are from someone accidentaly putting water in the power steering fluid reservoir or a vehicle sitting idle for a long time with the cap off the reservoir and possibly no hood.
I need to know how to replace the hoses on my power steering system. I also need to know what type of hydraulic fluid and steering fluid it takes?? If my head gasket is bad and I put stop leak then why is it still overheating?? Where is the water going!!!
No, that probably means you have a leak and it is getting water in it.
My experience has been..... if water ..even just condensation gets into the power steering box it will turn a bit whitish and foamy... Mike in Tucson
Between the water pump and firewall on passenger side
No ,EPDM is only compatible with non oil based fluids.Mainly water.
All the cooling system hoses will go soft and then fail leading to over heat and engine damage. If enough power steering fluid in in the cooling system the engine will over heat and fail. Drain all fluid, use dish washer soap and fresh clean water and run until engine at normal operating temp. Do this twice and flush with fresh clean water three times. Refill system with specified coolant. If this is the very rare kind of car that has power steering cooled by radiator the power steering pump and gear (rack and pinion assembly usually) will fail.
Gallon capacity of what? Oil? Gas? Water? Power Steering Fluid..?
