There are a number of things that could happen when you click the redo button. You could restart a page for example.

It's a quick way for the undo/redo buttons. Hold down X and press left to undo and right to redo.
Re-do repeats the same action. So if you want to do the same thing over and over again, a quick way can be to use redo, rather than whatever way you might have to do the actual task itself. Using redo can be quicker.
Go to the island you want to redo, then click on the little map in the corner. In the bottom left there will be a green button that says restart island. Click on it.
Ctrl - Y or the Redo button will do this, so they can be used.
