What happens in the chemical reaction that produces salt?

sodium and chlorine (Na and Cl) chemically combine

When sodium and chlorine combine what happens to the electrons?

When sodium and chlorine combine to form sodium chloride (table salt), sodium donates an electron to chlorine. Sodium becomes a positively charged ion (Na+) while chlorine becomes a negatively charged ion (Cl-). This ionic bond forms due to the attraction between the oppositely charged ions.

What happens when copper and chlorine ions are combined together?

When copper and chlorine ions are combined, copper chloride is formed. The copper ions (Cu²⁺) will combine with chlorine ions (Cl⁻) to form copper chloride (CuCl₂), a white solid compound.

What happens when aluminum and chlorine combine?

When aluminum and chlorine combine, they form aluminum chloride (AlCl3), a white crystalline compound. This reaction is highly exothermic (produces a lot of heat) and can be violent. Aluminum chloride is commonly used as a catalyst in various chemical reactions.

What happens to elements when they combine to form a compound?

The propertys of the elements change. For example:both chlorine and sodium are highly reactive, but whenthey combine the form a compound. this compound iswhich alot of people eat everyday.

What happens to the electron in a chlorine atom and a sodium atom when they combine?

When a chlorine atom and a sodium atom combine to form sodium chloride (table salt), the sodium atom loses its outer electron to the chlorine atom. The electron is transferred from sodium to chlorine, resulting in a sodium cation (Na+) and a chloride anion (Cl-), which then form an ionic bond due to the electrostatic attraction between the oppositely charged ions.

What happens to the electrons in a chlorine atom and a sodium Adam when they combine?

When a chlorine atom and a sodium atom combine to form sodium chloride (table salt), the sodium atom loses an electron to the chlorine atom. This forms a sodium cation (Na+) and a chloride anion (Cl-). The oppositely charged ions are attracted to each other, creating an ionic bond.

What happens when sodium metal is dropped into a flask with chlorine gas?

If you combine pure sodium with chlorine gas, you get a violent thermogenic chemical reaction that results in NaCl (Sodium Chloride; common table salt) and considerable energy release.

If a UV ray gets into your skin then you put sunscreen what happens to the UV ray?

Nothing will happen. UV rays are reflected after putting sunscreen.

What happens when hydrogen reacts with chlorine in direct sunlight?

When hydrogen reacts with chlorine in direct sunlight, they combine to form hydrogen chloride gas. This reaction is highly exothermic and produces a lot of heat and light. The reaction is also photochemical, meaning it is initiated by the energy of sunlight.

What happens when sodium ions is attracted to a chlorine ion?

forms a covalent bond APEX:They form an ionic compound.
