Generally speaking the text is lost. What you can do, if you have saved the document recently is quit the application. The computer will then ask you if you want to save the changes made to the document. Click "NO". The document will close and you can then re-open the file. You will then be back with the document as it was when you last saved. If you have only just deleted the text, and not done anything else, you could select the command "Undo" from the `Edit" menu. In most cases this will restore the text. Depending on the application you use for desktop publishing, you might even have a successive undo function, which allow you to recover after several actions have been taken since the deletion of the text. But I wouldn't like to be depending of this function being available.

When you delete text in desktop publishing, the selected text is removed from the document or layout. This action can cause surrounding text or elements to reflow or readjust based on the changes made. Make sure to review your document after deleting text to ensure the layout and formatting remain as intended.

Why is publish important?

Desktop publishing is important as a tool that can enhance communication by making it possible to quickly and efficiently produce printed and electronic (online or on-screen) documents.Desktop publishing software allows the user to rearrange text and graphics on screen, change typefaces as easily as changing shoes, and resize graphics on the fly, before finally committing a design to paper. There are drawbacks to desktop publishing in that it also makes it easier and less expensive to produce really bad designs. But it's about more than just appearance. Desktop publishing, used properly, enhances visual communication and streamlines the process of disseminating information of all kinds.
