Depending of the result they got from the credit check when you activated your account they could be more or less tolerant.
It could be as fast as the second month late that they suspend your account. If you still not pay, they could cancel your line a month or two later and you will be charged cancellation fees if applicable.
If you never made a payment since you activated they will just cancel your account on the third or fourth month without notice.
Before February 2010, all that was happening was that their account receivable department were calling you until you become crazy or pay. Since then, after the first month that you are late, they are sending the information to Equifax saying that you are late of a month. It is then written into you credit information.

usually when you have a no contract phone you do not have to pay a monthly bill you pay as you go, like a pre-paid cell phone, but now a days these phone companies are making phones that are no contract where you pay like $50/ month.
