New cars can adjust and get better gas mileage, older car 2002/older, you are just wasting money.
== == Automobiles with gas or petrol engines require either regular grade gasoline or super grade. The vehicle's manual will tell you which grade of gas is required. If you fill a vehicle requiring regular fuel with the more expensive super, you are wasting money, as there is no appreciable gain in mileage, engine longevity, etc. However if you put regular fuel into a vehicle requiring super (due to high compression ratio of many sports cars, high-end sedans, etc.) you can cause the engine to knock and cause carbon deposits to build up in the engine. Mid grade can sometimes be used in a mix with super to lower fuel costs, but this is not recommended by automobile manufacturers. If you want to know about using the wrong kind of fuel - in the case of a gas or petrol engine putting diesel in its fuel tank, or putting gas or petrol in a vehicle that has a diesel engine - see the answer to the Related Questionshown below.
Jet fuel is high grade diesel so a jet fuel car would use high grade diesel fuel.
Your owner's manual says the fuel grade that your car was designed for. Some cars have stickers on the fuel filler door stating the fuel grade.
Yes, you can use unleaded fuel even if your car calls for super unleaded fuel. These are essentially the same kind of fuel so it will not mess up the performance of your car.
If the car doesnt have a super or turbo charger and if you dont use nitrous then yes you can use low grade fuel in the car and it wont hurt it what so ever.Although if the grade is below the reccomended octane in your manual then a knocking noise will result as the piston fires. this isn't mechanicalbut just the noise of the gas igniting
It is burnt.

premium/super 91+... LS does have the knock sensor, so it should run on the lower grade, but I had fuel attendant put me full tank of regular and my car ran like a farm tractor... if your car is knocking on Super, buy a can of Seafoam fuel additive, add 1 can per full tank for 4-5 fuelings... it should solve the issue...
The only difference in regular unleaded fuel and super unleaded is the octane rating is higher in super unleaded fuel. Burning super unleaded would not cause your vehicle to die.
Infiniti recommends using premium grade fuel in the M45 and also in nearly every other car they make.
Yes, very rapid combustion happens in the internal combustion engine of a car.
