When you awake a sleepwalker they tend to be in a serious state of confusion and disorder. The best course of action here is to either wake them up gently (if possible) OR simply guide them back to bed. Careful though; some sleepwalkers may get violent and if you DO TOUCH THEM they may attack you. This is unintentional as they are in a state of 'twilight' within the mind. My roommate is a sleepwalker and he prefers me to guide him back to bed, but if it is something serious (running outside in nothing but boxers in the dead of winter lets say) this is potentially dangerous as he could get hypothermia and then I must wake him.
The common myth is that if you wake them they could die; so if you die in a dream you die in reality too? It is a fallacy that the medical community has debunked, yet media seems to have too tight of a grip on society.
