A split-brain is the result of having the corpus callosum connecting the two hemispheres of the brain is severed to some degree. This surgical procedure is called is called a corpus callosotomy and may be used to treat epilepsy.

A result is the at the two haves of the brain have difficulty communicating. As an example people with a split brain have difficulty relating images to the name of the object seen as the speech-control center is in the left side of the brain and the image from the left visual field is on the right side of the brain
