If you are found with the charge of guilty in absentia for speeding in Virginia all fines must be paid. The fines for driving 15 miles over the speed limit could run as high as $300.
If you simply blew-off the court date on your ticket, you will porobably be found guilty "en absentia" and you will be fined and assessed the points for this violation. If you disregarded a court subpoena to appear, a bench warrant could have been issued for your arrest.
It depends on the jurisdiction and the specific charge. In most places, speeding is punished with a fine not to exceed $1,000.
It would be very unusual, but I'm sure it has been done. You would have had to jump bond however.
Speeding while pulling trailer.
Yes, any ticket can be reduced without a lawyer. You have to go to the court date for your hearing. Be there early and if you show up there and the cops doesn't, many judges reduce the charge or if you plead your case honestly, logically and respectfully you can get a speeding ticket reduction as well.
No, generally, regular citizens cannot charge a police officer with speeding. However, citizens can report their observations to the respective police department, and it is up to the department to investigate and take appropriate action. It is ultimately the responsibility of the police department to enforce traffic laws for their officers.
Depends on what the charge is.
Yes, unless you choose not to attend, whereupon there is a good chance you will probably be found guilty en absentia, for failing to contest the charge against you.
With a pending charge or a conviction, no. Not in Virginia, nor anywhere else in the United States.
Check the laws of your state for statues of limitation. The state has a limited amount of time to charge you, but that can be anywhere from a year to forever (there are no statutes of limitation on felonies in Virginia and other states).
In the state of Ohio (& Virginia), it is the judges decision. I received 2 speeding tickets within 2 weeks of one another and the judge amended one but suspended my license for 30 days for the other and fined me a hefty charge. So I am assuming it all depends on the laws and the judge.
