Subduction occurs near them, since the volcanoes are near the plate boundaries; with an exception of hot spot volcanoes that are away from them. One of the plates silde underneath the other and it feeds itself to the magma, making itself magma also. Tiny earthquakes happen too, that signifys the magma pushes up towards the vent and it eventually erupts. Hoped this helped!

Well, volcanoes form in many places. but the main place where volcanoes form is along the border of plates. this happens when one plate goes under the other and starts forming into a volcano.
