You have likely seen a bat, "flying squirrel", colugo, or gliding possum. It is highly likely that you may have seen a bird however, especially if you did not get a good look at it.

If all you did was give that squirrel everything and that squirrel is totally dependent on you it probably won't last very long at all, but if you had that squirrel in captivity and then you properly rehabilitated it to live in the wild the the odds are it will live a very normal and full life
