As more people pack into Japanese cities noise pollution increases proportionally. Noise pollution and air pollution are connected to an increased number of vehicles on the road.
I used to live near Narita air port near Toyko, and your white curtains would turn gray in the summer time because of the pollution. However, compared to large cities in the US I think Japanese people are more aware and concerned about the environment, but still pollution exist.
