In reality not very much. The Catholic Church believes the shroud is the burial garment of Christ. This has never been proven, although the shroud has been tested several times. All the tests were inconclusive. Our faith in Christ is not based on this shroud, but on the Word of God.

The Catholic Church has never made an official pronouncement about the Shroud of Turin being either genuine or fake. Each individual may come to a personal conclusion. As far as the Church is concerned, it is a pious piece of art, much like the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
