Jim Corbett is known well for being a naturalist and hunter, but the man is lesser known for his books. Jim Corbett published many books during his lifetime, many of which were limited editions, and a few of which were adapted into movies. During his retirement years, he wrote passionately about his encounters with tigers, and about life in the hills. Here are some of the books that Corbett authored -
Jungle Stories - This book was published privately in 1935 and only 100 copies of the book were sold.
Man-Eaters of Kumaon - This book was published in 1944, and was a huge success. It was later adapted into a Hollywood movie.
The Man-Eating Leopard of Rudraprayag - Published in 1947.
My India - Published in 1952.
Jungle Lore - Published in 1953.
The Temple Tiger and More Man-Eaters of Kumaon - Published in 1954.
Tree Tops - This was a short, 30-page novella and was published in the year 1955.
Jim Corbett’s India - Published in 1978.
My Kumaon: Uncollected Writings - This book was published in 2012.
In his books, the author has passionately recounted his days in the jungles of Kumaon, amongst the rich wildlife. His accounts about the man-eating tigers were written in great detail, and gave an unseen perspective into the jungle life.
