Galvanized steel is, steel coated with zinc with a thickness of about 25 micron. The zinc coating is used to protect the steel from corrosion and rust formation. The zinc coating preferentially undergoing corrosion to protect steel and after the corrosion of zinc it forms a mixture of zinc oxide and zinc hydroxide. This is white in color.
