We receive heat rays from the Sun.
In fact most of the heat comes from the visible light.
Also, some heat comes from other sun rays such as infra red light.
However, the atmosphere stops a lot of the Sun's rays before they reach the surface.
infrared rays
ultraviolet rays are absorbed by the earth changing the rays to heat
Infra-red rays.
Infrared rays from the sun have a lot of heat and energy. They are responsible for warming objects and surfaces on Earth.
When the sun emit the UV rays and when the rays and heat arrive in the earth, the greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, water vapour and methane)trap them inside the earth. Then the earth absorb the heat and when the earth is unable to handle the heat, the earth starts radiating the heat. And as a result the earth becomes hot.
So even though this question is very ambiguous, yes, the sun rays heat Earth, but popular belief suggests that the Earth also warms because of emissions and stuff.
Infrared Heat.
the sunns rays heat in different directions
As the sun's rays heat up the earth, the radiation hits the atmosphere. Then the radiation heads back to the sun.
ultraviolet rays
The main heating rays of the sun are known as infrared radiation. These rays penetrate the Earth's atmosphere and heat up its surface, contributing to the warming of the planet. The Earth then re-emits this heat as longer-wavelength infrared radiation.
The infrared rays of the sun bring the maximum heat because they have a longer wavelength and higher energy compared to visible light and ultraviolet rays. When these rays reach the Earth's surface, they are absorbed by objects and converted into heat energy, which is why they are responsible for warming the environment.
