At your height and weight I'd pick a horse in the high 15 hands range. Also remember that a horse shouldn't carry more than 20% of it's own body weight( and no fat/overweight horses cannot carry more) This includes tack and rider weight together. You should also look for a horse with thick cannon bones and broad loins.
A 12hh pony could carry a 6 stone person the same as a 17hh could. It depends on the strength of the horse rather than the height as to what weight they can carry.
It depends on what you want to do with the horse. Choose the horse for the horse, not it's height.
At the top of the shoulder, right where the mane first starts.
Selena Gomez is 5'55ft 4 inches
It depends on the ponies breed, I don't personally see a problem as long as the person is not too heavy but I would definitely recommend if you were buying a horse to go for something a bit bigger, about 14.2hh.
It depends on your height and the horse. If your looking for something for a child get a pony. If it's for an adult get a horse and if it's sound make sure to go on a little ride so you make sure it's the right size.
Well any horse would be fine but if your child wants to be able to put on the saddle,do up girths etc then the perfect height would be 14 hands high because then when your child grows it will still fit the horse :)
It depends on how comfortable a rider you are because obviously you dont want to be scared of the height of your horse normally though a horses back should be about the same height as just above your shoulder (in-between) your shoulder and ear) - hope this helps.
Are you the right weight for your height? It's important to know if you're the right weight for your height. This can be done by calculatating your BMI.
The height of a pallet of horse feed will vary according to how thick the bags are. But most seem to be right around or just under five feet tall.
If your looking for a first riding horse for your daughter/son, the best things the horse could have is : Being Bomproof ( Does not spook easily) No Vices ( No bucking, No kicking, No biting ect.) The right height ( depending on your child's height, 14hh + - The right attitude (pony with a good loving character) P.S If you do not know a lot about horses, its better to get some advice from someone who does, because owning a pony is a long term investment. Do not buy a horse before you have seen it.
Any horse size should be okay for 5'6" person but most ride horses between 15 and 16 hands high.
I get 55.98 inches. 56 is close enough if your talking about a person's height.
