Using the inovative "island hopping" strategy developed by General McArthur the allies went from island to island until all islands where free of Japanese forces. By the time they had cleared most of the islands the allies where thing about landing on Japan itself the casualties would have been to great. By that time the Atomic bomb had been perfected and two where dropped which forced Japan to surrender.

The main contributions were the incredible ability America's industry possesed. The Americans outproduced and outnumbered the Japanese in both vessels, aircraft, and strategy. Japan on the other hand was being ravaged by relentless bombing raids that decimated their industry. The were beginning to steadily loose unacceptable numbers of trained pilots. An American-Australian submarine blockade was strangling Japan of its vital oil and rubber resources.
