Being 52 and not knowing what courses are now offered in High School ... but a must or at least a good starting point would be a second language (in the US - Spanish) ... if able to to take a third any Asian language that your school offers.
In a ER room - communication between doctors, nurse, staff AND admitting patient is... I believe at utmost importance

Many High Schools offer College level courses - take as many as you can. Courses that deal with - People skills and communication would be on the top of my list --in High School
Personally - I would involve myself with the above mentioned and in retrospect any courses (that were unavailable to me .. at the time) ... Human behavioral courses, and in today's society - any courses that address drug and alcohol dependency, domestic situations, life skills training (especially with developmental disabilities ... which I worked in ... immensely helped me out in my career
Basically - your value to an ER room is PEOPLE SKILLS - Take courses that address this - and it will give you a head start on your goals.
The courses you take in high school don't really matter much when studying to become a pediatrician. It takes an additional 11 years of schooling after the completion of high school to become a pediatrician so you will have plenty of time to take required courses then. In high school you should focus on courses you like and that you can get good grades in. A good GPA will help you to get into a better college, which may make it easier to become a doctor.
