There is only one huge difference between an equestrian statue and a horse statue. An equestrian statue is a statue of a rider on the back of a horse, while a horse statue is just simply a statue of a horse.
I think a derby is a horse race, and surely this refers to Epsom. Look up "Epsom Derby."
In horse racing, the building for the fans is usually divided into two sections; one is called the grandstand, and the other is called the clubhouse. Admission to the clubhouse costs more, and it is much posher than the grandstand.
