Yes, you can. Your horse must be a unicorn to be able to see and choose from them, though.
On Howrse if you get a black pearl can you use the coat you create without using a golden apple and if so is it for one two or more Howrses?
yes you can create a coat but cant wear it

You can't. Howrse got rid of it a while ago. You can get a Golden Apple for 1 pass but they no longer have the diamond apple.

no you cant. the way people give money is you buy the persons horses if there for sale

No they cant they are basically fertile like a mule. Only divine horses like Sapphire or Emerald can breed to get different horses heres an example: Sapphire+ Emerald=Topaz

well sorry to say but you cant change the coat unless you have a G.A. (golden apple) or you make a coat with the B.P. ( black pearl)
