Nope. Deleting a shortcut is just that - deleting the shortcut. The program is not affected.
1. You can right click on an icon and then choose "create shortcut." 2. You can right click on an icon, choose "copy," then go to where you want the shortcut, right click, and choose "paste shortcut."

I am almost completely sure that it is the same as XP. Right click on the icon, click properties, and then in the tab at the top click shortcut and then at the bottom click change icon then click on your icon you want then hit the ok button then click apply at the bottom and then ok and your done.
