A doctor's License is not based on "bedside manners"--e.g. how nice, mean, biased, or unbiased the doctor acts toward patients. A doctor can be as nasty or as biased as he or she wants, without any legal or professional action being warranted or upheld against the doctor. It is a doctor-driven industry--if a patient doesn't like a doctor, the "remedy" and expectation is for the patient to go elsewhere. In fact, some doctors deliberately act mean or unhearing with patients when they want those patients to go somewhere else. So you can try talking to the doctor--but it likely won't help. Or you can either bite your tongue and be careful what you say, or leave. This sounds like an uncaring answer--but doctors are trained in arrogance and are unlikely to change even when patients complain. Leaving may improve your mental health as well as your physical health. Ask your friends and family which doctors they like; who listens best; who is most compassionate. If you can afford to, interview a new doctor--do NOT bad-mouth any previous physician! The bottom line is not all pts and drs get along; better to find someone you really like. (Exception: Specialists who you only see once or twice you may never "like"-- but you can put up with them for a short time.)
