Well, she asked him out. What did he say, if he said yes, then I guess he didnt like you all that much. If he said no then its up to you if you want to pursue him, I would just back off. Friends are more important then any guy at this stage.

Her excuse for homecoming was she was going with her friends- and she diddnt want it to sound all that bad, so she said she liked you. When you asked her out- mabey she wasn't ready, or she didn't want to go out with you, because that is a common line to say when politely saying no.
