If you get a motorcycle but the seller never sends you the title, you should contact the seller. If the seller still does not give you the title, you should take the seller to court. The seller is obligated to provide you with a valid title so that you can register the car.

Who receives the check when your motorcycle was stolen?

If there was a lien on the motorcycle for a loan used to purchase it the lienholder should receive the check. Any amount over the balance due on the loan should be sent to you. If you owned it outright and are the only person on the title then the check should go to you.

How do you get a title to a car that was paid off?

my daughter purchased a car and had a hard time getting the title for it until she discovered that running red lights at a red light camera got tickets sent to the owner listed on the title. After waiting a year for the seller to give her the title( he also would not return her calls), it only took 3 tickets and he was at her door, title in hand.

Can an eBay seller of a vehicle repo it after payment has been made and title has been transferred because they want their money for delivery?

I doubt it. The person has the title and payment has been given you. The mistake came when you sent title and accepted payment that didn't include shipping. If you did it through PayPal you may have some recourse.

I bought a car with a clean title then when I went to get it registered they said they sent him a letter to tell him to send in the title to get it changed to salvage and he never did so what do I do?

If you want the car then you retitle it with a salvage title. If you don't want the car then you go back to the seller and explain that he defrauded you by not presenting you the proper 'salvage' title. If it's worth the time and hassle to you then you may need to contact an attorney and sue.

How do you get rid of a car if you cannot contact the lienholder and you have had it sitting for five years?

Normally when the loan on a vehicle is paid off, a form is sent to you from the bank releasing the lien from the vehicle stating basically that you have paid off the loan. This is taken to or sent into DMV where the title is changed removing the lien from the title. Some people never update the title and the "lien" language remains on the title. I once purchased a motorcycle that the forms had not been sent into DMV to adjust the language on the title. I had no problem registering the vehicle and with my new title, lien was on the title. The bank never contacted me as they had been paid off long ago. If this sounds like a similar situation, just sell the vehicle explaining this to the potential buyer.

When buying a used car froma private party where the seller has financed the car and does not have the pink slip and the buyer is paying cash how does the buyer protect himself?

Most states have power of attorney forms just for specific cars that you can pick up at your local title/dmv office. The seller would list you or who ever you want as the power of attorney for the car and you would be able to transact title work on their behalf. You also need a bill of sale signed by both you & the seller. Find out who the car is financed with and see if they have a local brach. Sometimes the seller can call his branch & have the tilte sent to the branch & you could meet him there, pay the bank & get them todo the title transfer work. If there is no local branch get the finance companys phone #, the account# for the loan and call them to get payoff directions.Get a cashier check and mail the payoffdirectly to them with a letter signed by both you & the seller instructing them to send the title toyouinstead of the seller. With the POA above& the title you should be able to obtain a new title. if you have a relationship with a local bank or credit union you may want to follow up with them for additional info. JUST REMEMBER TO HAVE ALL DOCUMENTS NOTARIZED!!! And make sure all the douments list the VIN#, sellers name(s)EXACTLYas listed on the registration, your name as listed onyourDL,and the date.
