If that actually happened, then either your batteries gave out, or else your
GPS receiver failed.
Make sure the battery contacts are clean and shiny, put in a set of new, fresh
batteries, and hand it to someone else to look at it and make sure you installed
the batteries in the right directions. Then go to a different location and test it.
The best place is outside, on high ground, with no trees or buildings around you.
If it still doesn't operate in that kind of conditions, then I'm afraid it looks bad for
your GPS, and I hope you kept the warranty information when you bought it.
