common problem in these Wranglers, can change out the switch or the entire heat/ac control panel (all 3 controls) for about $60.00, get part on eBay and you must use same year part, just because 97 & 05 look the same the wires are shorter on the 97 and won't fit the 05 without a ton of work. Good Luck, about 5 hours to do the job!

There is no "fan" setting on cavaliers. You can set the temp all the way to cool and turn the selector to anything besides defrost (all the way right) or a/c (all the way left before "off" position) and that will kinda run the "fan". However, whenever you have the selector in anything besides "off", the fan is running. If you were talking about "vent", these cars do not have vent. But when it is set to either defrost (all the way right) or a/c (all the way left before "off" position), you cannot turn off the AC

Often in vehicles, the fan will run on high all the time if your air conditioning is running. Another note some people don't know is that if your control is set to defrost (or defrost / floor), your A/C is on always, regardless of temperature, to help with de-fogging your window by reducing humidity in the air coming from the vents. If either of the above are the case, try setting your selector to floor. Hope that helps.
