If you leave him alone he will probably not realise how yo trely feel, he will probably just think you have new friends or that you don't like him.
If you really like him i suggst you just talk to him! Say that you don't want it to ruin your friendship but you thought he should know! Trust me, its better that way - he'll be grateful that your being honest with him!
