When that happened to me, I just let it thaw. The liquid was icy but it was definitely drinkable. We didn't wait for it to thaw completely before drinking it. It was New Years, after all! It tasted great.
Don't try this!! I accidentally froze a bottle last night for my daughters 18th birthday and just found it in the freezer. I looked up what happens when you freeze champagne and several posts said the bottle cracks, one said it would erupt like a volcano. Well, while I was looking it up the bottle made some fizzing sounds so concerned it would explode, I got my daughter to open it......She popped the cork and I can categorically confirm that it erupts like a volcano. One daughter now covered in champagne,a possible quarter of a bottle of champagne left! But to be honest,I love champagne and although it would have been lovely to drink it,it was absolutely hilarious!
