You really got to be careful in a situation like that. You really need to just sorta lay it all out and ask him on a date or ask him if anythings going to happen between you guys. Also if it was a really short time after his ex split from him, he might still be sad about that or just not want his still lingering feelings to get between the two of you in a relationship. Be considerate of him and it'll all play out how it is supposed to.
