aids is a disease which attacks your immune system (the protective mechanism of the human body) if HIV virus is not controlled the disease will take its own course till your immune is completely destroyed and it will make you prone to other diseases like TB, AND many other kinds of infection. in the end a AIDS patient dies because of the other diseases he acquires while his/her immune was supressed by HIV virus
