You will need to get the marriage license first before having the wedding ceremony. Both parties must apply together at the County Clerk's Office. Applicants must be 18 years or older without parental consent. Minors will need both parents to apply with them.

You will need your social security card or documents with your ss number on it and valid photo ID, such as a drivers license, passport, certified copy of birth certificate, or military ID.

The license can be used immediately or within 60 days. It can be used anywhere in the State of Arkansas, but must be returned to the County Clerk's Office where you obtained the license within 60 days for recording.

The minister's credentials must be recorded with a County Clerk's Office prior to your wedding ceremony. If a Justice of the Peace performs the ceremony, then the JP enters the County of jurisdiction and words "Justice of the Peace, District #" under his/her signature.

Best of Luck!

Can you get married in a church if you dont go to church regualry?

To legally marry, you must meet the requirements of the country/state that you get married in. Most places require that you obtain a marriage license through the court house and have the ceremony performed by an authorized individual. Once they have solemnized the ceremony, they document it on the license and it is returned to the court, who will then issue a marriage certificate. Anything else is not considered a legal marriage.

Are marriage laws the same in each state?

Generally, getting married is regulated through the state marriage license laws. Those laws set forth the requirements of becoming legally married in the state where you reside. Once a couple is legally married their obligations and rights are regulated and guaranteed by a host of other laws such as the laws of inheritance, laws of property ownership, and divorce laws. You can review the marriage license laws of Massachusetts at the related link.Generally, getting married is regulated through the state marriage license laws.
