He may not be comfortable with the idea of telling someone out right that he likes you. Don't be in a rush. Time will tell. If all else fails, you could always be the brave one and ask him privately if he likes you and be honest that you like him too... he could need the confidence that you like him. Nobody likes to be rejected.
On the other hand, you shouldn't count on the relationship either. The truth is that you just don't know what someone thinks unless you talk to them individually. If he only likes you as a friend, you have to decide whether that is okay with you, and whether you still want to be friends with him.
