VERY CASUAL POINT: As long as you merely live with them and dont sign a tax return, it's probably not much of a problem; on the other hand, check out that little bit at the bottom of the the return about false returns and such, it becomes much more problematic.
It's not really a good idea to sign offical documents unless you are willing to take the consequences of the signing.
So, again if you live with someone who does not 'file taxes' not much of a problem unless you have a liability to file taxes because of your living when them and you did not. This is all federal, isn't it?

It doesn't matter from where you file (mail) your taxes. However, you don't get to pick what state you want to file a tax return for.In general, you are required to file a state return for the state in which your primary residence is. If you require an extension on the filing of your taxes, do not forget to file an extension for state taxes too. Of course, if you live in a state like Florida that does not have a personal income tax, then you will not need to worry about filing taxes at all. In a majority of other states filing an extension is essential. You may incur certain fees or expenses if you fail to file an extension for your state taxes. Be sure to research the requirements for your state on receiving an extension for the filing of state taxes.
