A dragon's intestinal tract runs perilously close to its spinal cord, and swallowing food that is too large can create a hard lump that damages the spinal cord as it passes through. This leads to hind-limb paralysis and death. Food that is too large can also block the intestinal tract, causing death.
Ensure that food you offer to your bearded dragon is no larger than the space between the dragon's eyes.
