your battery needs to be charged first with a car battery charger
then start the car and see if the alt/battery light is on
if it is on then you probably have alternator problems
if the battery does not charge enough to start the car then get a new battery first
a good indication of how the alternator is working is to check the voltage at the battery with the engine running if it is between 13.6v and 14.4v then it should be OK if it is below it then the alternator needs to be replaced or repaired if it is above then the same apply as too high a charge will damage your battery in the long run
not unless you choke on it in a hospital bed when you are about to die just kidding :) But if you drink it everyday for a month chugging it, vitamin d poisoning can happen
Are you certain that the alternator is connected properly? Is the keyswitch working properly? Does your alternator have an internal or external regulator. How old is the battery? If it's about 3 years old, especially if you live where you have a real winter, about 3 years is all you can expect out of a battery, and it will just collapse and die. Auto Zone will check your battery out for free if you take it in. I wouldn;t have just replaced the alternator unless I knew that was the problem. Phil
Unless things have changed, the diodes are part of the alternator. The voltage regulator is attached to the alternator but the diodes are part of the alternator.
Spark Plugs do not affect your alternator. As long as your engine is running then it should be charging unless your alternator is bad
No, unless connected to a specific place or item, such as "Independence Hall", the location in Philadelphia where the Declaration of Independence was signed. And there's another one of those "proper noun" examples.
Not unless it is connected to the internet.
Your alternator is dead and needs replacing.
not unless its froze and the belt is smoking
No where unless your connected
The alternator is belt driven and so is the water pump but that is where the correlation ends. There is no way a bad alternator could cause a water pump to go bad unless the alternator pulley was warped. Then there is a small chance.
The brake lights come on. The alternator should maintain voltage (14.2) unless the alternator is failing or the battery is nearing end of life.
bad battery, and bad alternator not keeping it charged - also bad connections to the battery or loose wire connections on the alternator.
