Benadryl is safe to use in dogs up to 1 mg per pound (so a 25 mg tablet is safe for a dog that weighs up to 25 pounds). But if the label has the words "Sinus" or "Headache" on it, it could also contain a decongestant or acetaminophen, both of which can be toxic to dogs.

I take 10 mg. Ambien at night, (to sleep) and my dog accidently ate my Ambien pill last night before I realized it . He only weighs about 20 - 24 lbs. and I knew it was too late to induce vomiting when i realized it was gone from my bedside table. I watched him carefully, he got sleepy quicker than he usually does. I kept nudging him to see if I could arouse him about every 45 min. or so, I did this for about 3 hours. He never seemed drowsy or like he was drugged, he slept a little longer than usual, but he is fine today. I'm posting this because I couldn't find anything about this topic when I Googled the topic, and it was frightening to think my dog could have OD'd on Ambien. If anyone else has info. on this topic please post information for all to see and have peace of mind.
