There are 2 reasons: otitus or otodectosis (mange). It`s not a life danger, but you should visit your vet
The dogs odor was terrible.
It's best to get herbal liquids to clean your dogs ears. It can be bought from a health food store or your vet. I use Q-tips and put a little squirt down the ear of my dog, then gently (not too deep) use the Q-tip to keep my dog healthy so they don't get ear infections. I also clean my dogs ears out after they have been swimming. There can be all sorts of infections from trapped water, bacteria from the water and other pets around. Another thing I do is once a week I smell my dogs ears. If there is no odor then their ears are fine, but if there is a musty odor or an unpleasant odor you can be sure your dog has the start of an ear infection. Yes you can use baby oil. Place several drops in the ears, massage the ears and make the oil soak in. then let the dog or cat shake their head like crazy the ear mites should come "flying" out of the ears due to the force of the head shaking and the oil making them slide out. {For those of you who say that this is cruel: 1. My vet recommended this. 2. Putting chemicals in the animals ears is way worse, what if they are allergic?}
If there is any discharge or foul odor coming from your dogs ears, then it has an ear infection. If you see clumps of brown or black, your dog may have ear mites. Check with your vet to be sure.
Yes due to its odor
Give the dogs a good bathing. If the odor literally smells like dirty sweat socks and the dogs are scratching, it would indicate that they have the mange and need treatment as soon as possible or it will continue to spread.
Probably not washing behind your ears. Make sure you wash behind your ears every night with a wash cloth and soap.
I don't think you should touch there dog but you can get odor off of dogs by washing them with soap and water.
No
yeah all dogs do, especially when they fart
More than likely if there is a bad odor coming from the ears it either has an ear infection of some sort or ear mites. Either will need a look/check by your vet to determine just what is wrong and to give you the appropriate medication. A cat's ears that are healthy should have little to no odor.....it's a sure sign something is wrong.
They do not have a bad odour. They might smell from the ouside or from its ears. They do not have a "specific smell."They do not have a bad odour. They might smell from the ouside or from its ears. They do not have a "specific smell."
No, the Cocker Spaniel (American variety) is known to have a distinguishing odor from its skin and ears.
