Sounds to me like he is missing you, he is honest is a good thing, but it also means he doesn't mind sleeping around when he feels this way. Speak to him, tell him if he feels for you, and if you feel for him which it sounds like you do, then maybe you two could try going out again. But sit down before you do and discuss what caused you two to break up in the first place, don't live in denial, be honest and discuss what could be done to keep the same problems from happening again.
