If your fuel guage doesn't work and you're not in a hurry to fix it, go to the gas station and do a fill up and grab a reciept that has the number of gallons on it. Before you drive away, clear your trip odometer. Drive normally until the low fuel light comes on (if you don't have one, driving until you stall is an indicator but that's much less convenient). At this point, divide the miles you've driven by the number of gallons of gas you bought LAST time. This is your realistic miles per gallon. In the future, use the odometer as your fuel guage. As long as you know how many gallons you put in last time you can use the number of miles you've traveled to guestimate how many more you can go.
If the gas gauge stops working is there a fuse for it?
your gas gauge float is in the gas tank you have to drop your gas tank and take out sending unit but if the gas gauge is not reading right you should check the ground wire on the gas tank
The fuel sensor in the gas tank is bad.
$600 for a new pump, sending unit and labor
Chevy did not build Malibu in '94
The sending unit in the gas tank is bad.
on the gas tank
I am willing to bet that you have had someting inside your gas tank or dash worked on recently. The issue is that the plug for your sending unit is on backwards or the wires to your gauge are reversed.
The 2012 Chevy Malibu has a fuel tank capacity of 16.0 on all models.
Check your fuses, if ok..You need to replace the sending unit for this gauge.
