There are 8 oz in one cup. your recipe calls for 1 and 1/4 of a cup, so you would need 10

oz. 8oz(1cup) and then 2oz(1/4cup) 8+2=10.

That is incorrect. That assumes that the weight ounces = liquid ounces. They do not. For example, there are 4 oz. by weight in a cup of King Arthur Flour. There are many food conversions charts on the web, but I haven't found one that lists sour cream.
