Well you want to look for zero degrees longitude so you start at the 'Prime meridian' this is just a fancy name for the zero degrees of longitude. The 'Prime meridian' starts at Greenich,England. Now longitude measures from North to South so if you were to find. 30 degrees North or 30 degrees south. You would just travel below or above the equater. North is above and South for below. (The equater is zero degrees latitude..)
The degrees of longitude and latitude, to find a position
Latitude and longitude are used to find the degrees horizontally and vertically around the earth, pin-pointing a location.
For starters they are both on the map and both help you find a place faster. They also helped when it came to navigating no matter if it was 100 years ago and they were crossing the sea of today. (A GPS uses them to)
I believe they have to give you their coordinates which are degrees east or west latitude and degrees north or south longitude. For example They'd say I'm at 30 degrees east latitude and 60 degrees north longitude and then you just find the point where those coordinates meet.
latitude and longitude
The Prime Meridian. Opposite Prime Meridian (180-degrees Longitude) is The International Date Lin.

In the Atlantic Ocean, close to the west coast of Africa, near the country of Sao Tome and Principe.
There is no such city as longitude only measures east-west and there are currently two latitude measurements and no longitude measurements, so it is unable to find the place.

If two travellers 'A' and 'B' started from the Prime Meridian (zero longitude). 'A' travelled to the West, and ''B travelled to the East, they will meet on the other side of the World at 180 degrees longitude. Therefore, the biggest number is 180 degrees longitude. The International Date Line roughly follows the 180 degrees longitude north-south line on the Earth.
longitude and latitude we use these as coordinates to find certain places on the globe
The most recent location for the North Magnetic Pole that we could find on-linein an exhaustive 2-minute search placed it at 71.78° west longitude as of 2005.That's 36.22° east of 108° west longitude, and 179.78° west ... almost exactlyopposite ... of 108° east longitude.
nothing
