New technologies can lead to not only improved logistics, but also deadlier battles. In the Napoleonic wars, canned foods helped feed the enormous amounts of troops fighting in Napoleans army. In the civil war, new technology like ironclads and the quick-loading or repeating rifle had devastating effect. And going further into WW1, the new weapons of the time were to have horrible effects on advancing soldiers, many who died at battles like the somme(1916} Passschendaele {1917} and others that killed many men and wounded even more. Finally, in WW2, the invention and perfection of the tank in the earlier war had led to huge, powerful tanks that could pull off rapid offensives and movement. Also, the use of trucks helped lead to the rapid offensives as well.
