The Prophets are chosen people sent by Allah (God) Almighty for the guidance of human beings. Hazrat Abraham, Hazrat Moses, Hazrat Jesus Christ and many others (May peace and blessings of Almighty God be on them) were the Messengers of Almighty God. The last one being Hazrat Muhammad (May peace be on him). The Arch Angel Gabriel (Jibraieel) came to him, revealed a few verses of the holy Qur'an and told him that he was the last Prophet, and that he should preach Islam. At that time the age of Hazrat Muhammad (May peace be on him) was about 40 years.

According to Islamic Sources, Mohammed was unsure that God had spoken to him until a Christian friend (Waraqa) of his wife, Khadija, assured him that God was speaking to him. (He believed that it may have been the devil.) When Mohammed was assured that it was God, he felt compelled to preach the words he received to other people.
