There were different occupations that most ancient Egyptians held. The common ones included washerwomen, barber, metal workers, carpenter, bricklayers. farmers and traders among others.
Syrians are a mixture of Arameans and Assyrians mixed with a number of other nationalities, including Greeks and Turks. It may be that their racial identity is mixed because of centuries of conquering and assimilation by other peoples. Arabian influences increased during the 7th Century. The term "Syrians" began to be used in the 1800's after the Napoleonic Wars. In a religious sense, many are muslims and Christians.

This list is not exhaustive. People from pretty much all the ethnic groups either were taken to Rome as slaves or migrated there.

The peoples within the Empire continued to practice their own religions. - the Greeks, the Phoenicians, the Egyptians, etc. The upper class Persians had a cult of Zoroastrianism, but this was a small minority compared with the others.
