the creation of the cotton gin. more slaves were needed to pick cotton than to pick the seeds from it
Slaves increased their personal support by building extended families.
slave trade increased because people in south started growing lots of tobacco, the people in the south had large plantations but not enough workers so when people started shipping slave to the new world, the farmers wanted more and more slaves. Thats why the south had more slaves than the northern colonies
no slaves.
The number of enslaved Africans in the southern colonies increased dramatically to meet the demands of large scale plantations for agricultural workers. Observation of the economic growth of Caribbean plantations and how their profit margins had improved by ditching Amerindian slaves and replacing them with African slaves, served to ignite massive growth of enslaved people in the southern colonies.
There is a bit of misunderstanding here concerning slavery. There were no "city slaves" and any African American in the south was a slave. To leave the plantation they had to have a pass. On the plantation there were different jobs that determined the type of slave they were.
The Cotton Gin. And was created by Eli Whitney.
The Cotton Gin!
slaves
It caused slavery to be more profitable. :)
Because the plantations in the south were more reliant on slave labor to produce crops, while in the north, they had little need for slaves due to the increased manufacturing in the north, plus, most northerners could not afford slaves
It increased the need for slaves.
It increased the need for slaves.
Well, "the South provided 2/5 of the world's cotton," and the more cotton produced, the more slaves you need. Crop profit increased, which meant more slaves. In addition, the cotton gin was invented which required many more slaves as well! Hope this helps :)
the machine thAT increased the demand for slaves was the cotton gin
Since the south had the perfect land and weather for farming, there were more farms which increased the need for slaves. The north had become industrialized and most people had never seen a slave.
It increased the dependancy for slaves, therefore, increasing the amount of enslaved people. I know, it's sad.
The cotton gin increased production of cotton exponentially in the south. Which increased the economy in the south greatly. The south then began to increase in the number of slaves so they could produce even more cotton. The south was more wealthy then the north and it increased slave trade even more. The cotton gin made relations with north and the south even more tense.
